How to Find Ostello Degli Elefanti
The easy way to locate us is to remember that we are positioned exactly between Piazza Duomo and Piazza Università, on Via Etnea, number 28
On the right side of the arch press the Hostel button one time and await the response from our receptionist who will say "Ostello?"
Simply respond "Guest" or "Ospite" and we will open the doors for you - 24 hours. Enter the door through the arch, on your right and take the stairs to the second floor, where you will see the entrance to the Hostel.
From the train and bus stations
The hostel is 1.3km or 16 minutes by foot from the train and bus stations. Follow the via VI Aprile towards the piazza dei Martiri. Once you’re in the piazza turn right and follow the via Vittorio Emanuele II until you arrive at the piazza Duomo. Then turn to your right for the via Etnea – we are number 28 on this road, the first palace on the right.
There are so many buses from the station which pass us by - it’s child’s play to find us by asking for the piazza Duomo.
From Catania Airport
Take the ALIBUS service (0500-0000, every 20 minutes, journey time airport to city approximately 20 minutes).
Get off at the stop STESICORO which is immediately after a department store called la Rinascente.
The volcano will be behind you, and in front of you Piazza Stesicoro. Cross the Piazza, continuing on Via Etnea.
You will pass the stunning Quattro Canti, the intersection of Via Etnea and Via San Giuliano.
A short walk along Via Etnea will bring you to Piazza Università.
By Taxi
A taxi should bring you directly to Piazza Duomo, or even to our building. We recommend RADIO TAXI CATANIA, as they have a fixed rate from the airport to the city centre.
By Train
From Catania Centrale you can take a bus to Piazza Borsellino.
From there walk through the park.
Enter and turn to your right, follow the path under the arches.
Go through the large gateway – the historic Porta Uzeda – into Via Etnea and through Piazza Duomo.
You might see the volcano smoking away in the distance. On your right you will pass the Duomo – the Cathedral of Sant’Agata – and in the middle of the square you will see an Elephant Statue with an obelisk rising up from its back.
From Catania Port
The port is right in the centre of our city and it is extremely easy to arrive at the hostel, which is only 700m away. All you have to do is follow the signs for the piazza Duomo – we are at the start of the via Etnea at number 28.
From Comiso Airport
Comiso Airport is only 1h 15m from Catania. Details of how to arrive by public transport can be found on the following website: bus service Comiso - Catania
Car
If you are coming by car we recommend using google maps. It’s worth bearing in mind that you have to pay for parking every day "excluding Sundays and holidays" from 8am to 1pm and from 4pm to 8pm at €0.75 p/h in the whole area around the hostel.
