Our association, Welcome 2 Sicily, passionately promotes and supports the concept of eco-
sustainable travel.
Nestled in the heart of the enchanting Ostello degli Elefanti, we have always been dedicated to promoting an approach to travel that respects the environment. Sustainability is at the core of our mission, and we commit ourselves to giving a new life to every object and piece of furniture present in the hostel, sometimes even a third life.
Over the years, we have invested in reducing CO2 emissions by replacing all large appliances with
high-efficiency models. Every room is illuminated with LED lights, demonstrating our commitment
to reducing energy consumption. We have been pioneers in Sicily in eliminating plastic from our
consumables, reducing it by 95%. Where necessary, we use biodegradable plastic materials, such as
cornstarch.
At the reception, we offer refillable glass bottles of water, promoting responsible resource use. Our
bar features sustainable local products, including a selection of Sicilian organic wines. For
breakfast, we prefer locally sourced, organic products and often collaborate with local associations that share our passion for a sustainable lifestyle.
In the common areas of the hostel, you will find convenient bins for recycling plastic, metals, paper, and glass, actively contributing to the protection of natural resources. Furthermore, we promote meetings and artistic events with sustainability themes, organized in collaboration with local associations. These events provide our guests with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in sustainability culture and appreciate art with an ecological message.
Our priority is to create an environment where unity among people and mutual respect are at the
center of the travel experience.
We invite our guests to share these important values and adopt a responsible attitude, avoiding waste and becoming aware of the importance of reducing water and electricity consumption. Additionally, in our bathrooms, you will find convenient containers for the separate collection of soiled paper, thus contributing to the protection of our aquifers and the sea.
